On November 6, the Federal Council decided to bring the Financial Services Act (FinSA) and the Financial Institutions Act (FinIA) into force on 1 January 2020 and adopted the respective implementing ordinances (https://www.admin.ch/gov/de/start/dokumentation/medienmitteilungen.msg-id-76957.html).

As of next year financial service providers will have to operate in a changed regulatory landscape and will in some cases be subject to new licensing requirements. In addition, the offering of financial instruments will be newly and comprehensively regulated.

Since FinSA&FinIA are bringing about some quite drastic changes, the laws grant generous transitional periods. Financial service providers, therefore, have time to adapt to the changes.
